9:00–9:30 AM: Meet and greet with continental breakfast
9:30–10:00 AM: Betsy White — Welcome from the Historic Preservation Review Board Chair
10:00–11:00 AM: Mary Ruffin Hanbury — Presentation on the 1970 and 1986 Town of Abingdon National Register of Historic Places Nomination updates
11:00 AM–12:00 PM: Carolyn Zemanian (DHR) — Presentation on the State of Virginia Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program
Midday — Muster Grounds / Retirement Site
12:30–1:45 PM: Lunch at the Muster Grounds/Retirement site, guided tour of the ongoing restoration of Retirement, and a presentation on Abingdon's plans for VA250
The Retirement property is one of Abingdon's most significant historic sites, and this tour offers a rare opportunity to see the active restoration work underway.
Afternoon Program — Town Hall (Council Chambers)
2:00–3:00 PM: Logan Parham (Preservation Virginia) — Presentation on Preservation Virginia and its projects throughout Virginia
3:00–4:00 PM: Lynchburg Stained Glass — Presentation on historic stained glass window repairs and restoration
4:00–5:30 PM: Joanna Wilson Green & Katherine Ridgway (DHR) — Discussion on historic cemetery symbology, maintenance, regulations, laws, and grants
